Der Carinthische Sommer ist das wichtigste Musik- und Kulturfestival im österreichischen Bundesland Kärnten und findet seit 1969 jährlich in den Sommermonaten Juli und August in Ossiach, der Stadt Villach und auch an anderen Spielstätten in Kärnten statt.

Die besondere Atmosphäre des Carinthischen Sommers mit seinen vielfältigen Spielstätten zieht jedes Jahr im Juli und August Künstler*innen und Publikum aus aller Welt in den Bann. Dabei steht vor allem die musikalische Vielfalt im Vordergrund. Neben Kammer- und Orchestermusik sowie Kirchenoper wird auch Musik aus den Bereichen Jazz und Crossover, Rock/Pop und dem experimentellen Bereich im Rahmen des Festivalprogramms angeboten, um Publikum aller Altersklassen zu begeistern. Mit den Rising-Stars-Konzerten werden junge Künstler*innen gefördert und in das Festival integriert. So können sich etwa die Preisträger*innen des Internationalen Hans Gabor Belvedere Gesangswettbewerbs dem großen Publikum präsentieren. Nach Helmut Wobisch, Gerda Fröhlich und Thomas Daniel Schlee ist Holger Bleck seit dem 1. Jänner 2016 Geschäftsführender Intendant des Carinthischen Sommers. 

The Carinthian Summer Music Festival is the most important music and cultural festival in the Austrian province of Carinthia and has been held annually since 1969 in the summer months of July and August in Ossiach, the city of Villach and also at other venues in Carinthia.

The special atmosphere of the Carinthian Summer Music Festival with its diverse venues attracts artists and audiences from all over the world every year in July and August. The main focus is on musical diversity. In addition to chamber and orchestral music as well as church opera, music from the fields of jazz and crossover, Rock/Pop music and the experimental area is also offered as part of the festival programme to inspire audiences of all ages. The Rising Stars concerts promote young artists and integrate them into the festival. For example, the winners of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition will have the opportunity to present themselves to a large audience.
